A very big thank you to everyone who attended the first joint BALH/SDNQ conference at Sherborne on Saturday, which everyone agrees was a resounding success!
Thank you to our five fabulous speakers – Professor Andrew Prescott, Tim Goodwin, Steve Carter, Professor Steve Poole and Professor June Hannam – who enthralled the audience with talks about the Peasants’ Revolt, the English Civil War, the Monmouth Rebellion, Heritage, Memory & Rebellion, and Labour women’s support for the miner’s lockout of 1926.
To all those who manned the exhibition stands for BALH, SDNQ, Dorset Record Society, FACHRS, Somerset Record Society, SANHS, SDFHS, Southern History Society, plus Adrian Webb and Katherine Barker.
To Kafé Fontana for supplying such a delicious lunchtime spread and to Sherborne Town Council for providing a super venue at the Digby Hall.
We couldn’t have done it without you!
