New speaker added to line-up of Rebellion and Protest conference

We are delighted to announce that Professor June Hannam will be speaking at our joint SDNQ BALH one-day conference on 17 October 2026.

June Hannam is Professor Emerita of Modern British History at the University of the West of England and has published widely on socialist women and feminist politics in Britain 1880-1940. She is a trustee of the Bath Museum of Work and a member of the editorial board of Women’s History Review. Her current research is on women and political action in Bath in the 1920s.

June will speak at the conference about the efforts made by Labour women in the south west, encouraged by the regional organiser Annie Townley, to raise funds for the relief of miners’ wives and children when the miners were locked out of work for several months after the 1926 General Strike.

Special SDNQ & BALH membership conference ticket price of £20 includes a buffet lunch, tea, coffee and biscuits.
