- To celebrate the 50th anniversary of SDNQ‘s long and happy association with the printers Creeds Design & Print of Bridport, Adrian Webb, Ann Smith and Rachel Hassall look back at the history of the printing of the journal, from the first issue in 1888 which was printed by J.C. Sawtell of Sherborne, who in 1891 became J.C. & A.T. Sawtell and printed the journal until 1961 when they were succeeded by Hammett & Co. of Taunton, to Creeds of Bridport who have printed the journal since 1974.
- Joseph Bettey uses the Tucker family papers in the Bodleian Library to reveal the searches made in 1761 by John Tucker (1701-1779) of Weymouth for copper ore on the Quantocks at Nether Stowey.
- Part two of Katherine Barker’s history of Sherborne’s Pack Monday Fair discusses evidence found in Hone’s The Every-Day Book or Everlasting Calendar of Popular Amusement (1826) of the early siting of the fair in the Abbey churchyard, and the ‘announcement’ of the fair the night before by ‘Teddy Roe’s Band’.
- Appendix II of the Canons of Taunton, 1377-1539, by R.W. Dunning (continued from March 2023).
- Two Calvinist funeral sermons discovered by Charles Cornish Dale in the manuscript notebook of Francis Frampton (c.1608-1646), a minister in Dorset in the 1630s and 1640s. The notebook (ref. STC 2608) is held in the Folger-Shakespeare Library, Washington DC, and can be viewed for free on LUNA, the Folger’s online catalogue.
- Dominic Aidan Bellenger identifies more French emigre clergy in Somerset – Guillaume Le Barbey, Pierre Chanteloup, Charles Léonard Prémord (1760-1837), and Pierre Joseph Renoult.
- Richard Coates investigates the ‘Hobblers of Pill’ in Somerset and discovers the origins of the term ‘hobbler’.

- Ann Smith tells the story of the stones from the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey incorporated into the Bishop’s throne (the ‘Glastonbury Cathedra’) dedicated in 1901 at Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. The article is illustrated with photographs of the Bishop’s throne and Glastonbury thorn taken by SDNQ subscriber Jenny Rust during a recent to Washington, D.C.
- Martin Howley explains his identification of Glastonbury’s relic of Saint Budecac in ‘The Relic List’ manuscript held at Trinity College Cambridge (ref. R.5.33 (724) Fols. 104R-105V)
